Privacy Policy
Effective 1 November 2026 · App: AlpiNav (iOS, watchOS) · Publisher: Sprinklebun Studio
Short version: AlpiNav has no user accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your location and ski days stay on your devices. Optional features (friends, Apple Health, Strava) only share what you choose, with the services you choose.
1. Location
AlpiNav uses your location to show you on the map, compute routes, guide you and record ski days. Location is processed on your device. Recorded days are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We never receive your location. "Always" permission is only used while you record or navigate, with the blue location indicator visible.
2. Motion sensors
The barometer and motion sensors measure vertical and detect lifts, runs, turns and hard impacts (black box). Sensor data is processed on device and stays there.
3. Friends & groups (optional, iCloud)
If you create or join a group, AlpiNav stores a small record with your display name and your latest position (latitude, longitude, elevation, speed, status and battery level) in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) in a zone shared only with the members of that group. This data is stored by Apple under your iCloud account; the developer cannot read it. Positions are only published while "Share my location" is on. Leaving the group stops sharing; the group owner can delete the group.
4. Apple Health (optional)
With your permission AlpiNav saves ski days as Downhill Skiing or Snowboarding workouts (distance, energy, route) and reads ski workouts and heart rate to import them into your logbook. Health data never leaves your device through AlpiNav, is never used for advertising or sold, and is not shared with third parties.
5. Strava (optional)
If you connect Strava, AlpiNav uploads the activities you choose to your Strava account. The authorization code is exchanged for tokens through our API server, which forwards the request to Strava and does not store tokens, profiles or activities. Tokens are stored in your device's Keychain. Disconnecting removes them from the app; you can also revoke access in your Strava settings. Strava's own privacy policy applies to data you upload.
6. Our servers and Apple
Resort map packs are downloaded from Apple's servers (App Store hosted background assets), like the app itself. Weather and avalanche conditions, lift status and the resort list come from our servers hosted on Cloudflare (alpinav.pages.dev). These requests contain the resort identifier, never your position. Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the response and we may keep short-lived technical logs (a few days) to keep the service running. If our server is unreachable, the app may ask MET Norway (api.met.no) directly for the forecast at the resort's coordinates (not yours).
7. Support messages
If you send us a message from the support page, we store your message and, if you provide it, your email address to answer you. We delete them once your request is resolved, at the latest after 12 months.
8. Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not receive your payment details; the app only checks on device which passes are active.
9. Photos & camera
The ski pass wallet stores the photo you pick on your device only. The camera is only used to scan a friend's invitation QR code.
10. Tracking & advertising
AlpiNav does not track you across apps or websites, does not use advertising identifiers, does not contain third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not sell data.
11. Children
AlpiNav is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
12. Your rights
Because we do not hold personal data about you on our servers (other than support messages), most data is under your control on your devices: delete ski days in the Logbook, leave groups, disconnect Strava, or delete the app. Under the GDPR you may ask us for access to or deletion of support messages, and you can complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
